Today marks the 70th birthday of Phil Dudderidge, founder & executive chairman of The Focusrite Group. With 2019 marking Focusrite’s 30th anniversary, this year also marks Phil’s 45th year in the music industry, which started with him co-founding Soundcraft in 1973 alongside Graham Blyth. Phil also recently enjoyed his 42nd Winter NAMM in Anaheim, further demonstrating his continued love for all things MI.
Phil then moved on to form Focusrite Audio Engineering in 1989, continuing to develop and manufacture Focusrite products after it acquired the assets from Rupert Neve. From there, the group acquired Novation in 2004, continuing it’s rich heritage of synthesisers whilst introducing ground-breaking midi controllers such as Launchpad, responsible for hundreds of millions of views on YouTube. At the end of 2014, Focusrite was floated on the AIM market as Focusrite plc, further continuing the group’s growth. 2017 then saw the launch of the Ampify and Focusrite Pro brand subsidiaries, covering music-making apps and commercial audio solutions respectively.
We hope you’ll join us in wishing Phil a very happy 70th birthday!
