Nevada Music has been established for over 40 years, growing to become one of the largest Independent Musical Instrument retailers in the UK. As our sales director approaches retirement, we have an exciting vacancy for a sales manager to work alongside her and if successful, eventually take over her role.

We are seeking a person from the Music retail industry with experience at our Multi-Million pound turnover level of business, or possibly with other main stream retailing background.

In your current role you must be fully profit and loss accountable, be able to train and develop a sales team to deliver outstanding customer service and store standards, and finally demonstrate clear passion for direct sales.

You will be expected to lead the sales team from the front, actively selling on a daily basis and providing support and corrective coaching to your sales team, being hands on is a must.

THE ROLE

To take overall control of our retail sales showroom for the staff, displays and general day to day running. To purchase products and merchandise for both our retail and Web store, assisting the sales director with the planning and selection of our stock range, buying to a budget and to maximise our profit. You will analyse sales figures, review stock levels, check what competitors are buying and take part in the planning and execution of promotions, both in store and on our web site.

Tasks included in this role...

* be fully aware of customer buying patterns and predicting future trends;
* regularly reviewing performance indicators with sales;
* managing plans for stock levels, reacting to change in demand and logistics;
* meeting suppliers and negotiating the best terms;
* maintaining relationships with existing suppliers and sourcing new suppliers for future products;
* liaising with other departments within Nevada to ensure projects are completed;
* attending trade fairs, in the UK and abroad, to select and assemble a new collection of products;
* participating in and suggesting new promotional activities;
* producing reports, sales forecasts and analysing sales figures;
* Managing retail sales staff to ensure they are focused, well trained and performing to their maximum potential;
* seeking feedback from customers on our performance and their expectations.

THE PERSON

You MUST have previous management, purchasing and RETAIL experience to truly succeed in this role. You must be highly organised and be proficient in analysis of sales figures, customer buying patterns and reports and forecasts. Good judgement is an absolute must for this role.

You will be part of a team; therefore you will need to be a strong communicator with good people skills as you will be liaising with various personnel. You will have a firm knowledge of the entire process involved in the role and must be confident in your knowledge. You will need to be commercially aware as well as showing an appreciation of the customers needs. You must be accustomed to keeping up to date with market trends and reacting to changes in demand - as these are key elements of the role.

SUITABILITY

Previous experience with a retail company is essential to be really successful in this role, although other backgrounds may be considered. BUYING / PURCHASING MANAGEMENT / STAFF MANAGEMENT / EXPERIENCE IS ESSENTIAL.
