In partnership with Yamaha Music London, UK singer/songwriter announces pop anthem for Learn to Play Day 24-25 June 2017…
UK singer/songwriter, Nina Schofield, has been commissioned by Yamaha Music London to be the face and voice of this year’s national Learn to Play Day which takes place 24-25 June, releasing the self-penned anthem ‘Beat Another Rhythm’ in the UK on 7 July. Learn to Play Day is the flagship event of the UK’s Music For All Charity, and gives everyone across the nation a chance to have a free taster lesson on a musical instrument to inspire new or lapsed musicians of all ages to take up or restart playing an instrument.
In addition, the charity is very proud to announce that Nina has also become its latest Ambassador!
Yamaha Music London have been strong supporters of Learn to Play Day since its inception. They will be hosting hundreds of FREE taster musical instrument lessons throughout the day including acoustic/electric/bass guitar, drums, violin/elelectric/bass ectric violin, trumpet, piano and Yamaha’s new fun instrument the Venova in group starter sessions. Open to all the family from 10.30am to 5.00pm Saturday 24th June and 11.30am to 4.30pm Sunday 25th June.
YML are delighted to be working alongside Nina Schofield, a classically trained multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter and music teacher with pop success across the world. Nina Schofield was an obvious choice to write and perform the 2017 anthem – a fresh pop face sharing her love of music and performance during Learn to Play Weekend.
Nina Schofield will be personally hosting live and free music workshops for kids aged 8 – 15 years old at Yamaha Music London, Wardour Street Soho, during Learn To Play Weekend (23 & 24 June). During the sessions, Nina will demonstrate the role of instruments in pop songs and children will be given the exciting chance to record and appear in the live acoustic music video for ‘Beat Another Rhythm’.
‘Beat Another Rhythm’ is an upbeat pop track bursting with confidence and musical vibrance. Written by Nina Schofield specifically for Learn to Play Day, the song layers Nina’s divine vocals across tiers of drums, keyboards and strings, demonstrating how instrumentation on a song can change its shape and dimension.
“I’m delighted to have been chosen as the face and voice of Yamaha Music London’s Learn to Play Day activities,” comments Nina Schofield, “Music brings me joy every day and learning to play an instrument changed my life in so many positive ways. I want to share that with as many young people as possible this Learn to Play Day.”
