Half of older generation to attend live music this summer

More than 50% of over 55’s will be attending gigs and festivals between June and August this year, according to new research. The study also suggests that 59% of those aged over 18 would be attending live music during the three-month period, and one in four planned to watch live music at grassroots venues.

Of the 2,057 people who took part in the online survey, 43% had tickets for a grassroots venue, 24% for an O2 Academy-sized venue (1,500-2,000) and 22% for a stadium, or arena concert.

This study was carried out by Performance Birmingham, the management company behind the city’s Town Hall and Symphony Hall. CEO, Nick Reed, said “Given the pull that older rock and pop artistes have in filling festivals and major concert halls each summer, one shouldn’t be surprised if it’s the parents or grandparents we see rocking out at this summer’s major music events.”
