Sontronics picks up prestigious business award

At the glamorous Dorset Business Awards gala in Bournemouth last week, microphone manufacturer (and MIA member) Sontronics was bestowed with the prestigious Outstanding Customer Service award in recognition of its incredible support and care for its users, not just in its home county but all over the world.

The event, hosted by the Dorset Chamber of Commerce & Industry and attended by over 700 local businesspeople, saw Sontronics up against tough competition, but the team walked away not only with the Outstanding Customer Service award, but also as commended runners-up in the Investing In Dorset category.

Sontronics, founded in 2004 by musician and designer Trevor Coley, has always boasted a loyal customer base (its famous users include Ed Sheeran, Aerosmith, Muse and Abbey Road Studios to name but a few) and the company has seen fantastic success in recent years. Sontronics was twice voted Best Microphone Brand in the MIA/MusicRadar awards, its microphones are continuously being bestowed with accolades and in the last six months alone, Sontronics has taken on three new international distributors (taking its country count up to 60), moved to larger premises and doubled its workforce. And to top it all, Sontronics now has official recognition from its local business community to add to the trophy cabinet.

“To win this award and be told we were extremely close to winning a second was just unbelievable,” says director Lisa Coley. “We work hard to cultivate a community atmosphere among our users and always prioritise customer queries and support; that’s just what we do. So we’re still taken aback (and obviously very grateful!) to realise that work was thought by the judges to be worthy of such a respected award.”

MD Trevor Coley adds: “To get that recognition from our local business community and to have our microphones catapulted into the spotlight at such a high-profile event is so very special. Dorset is home to some massive successes – from Sunseeker and Lush to Siemens, Farrow & Ball and Ryvita – so to win the admiration and respect from our fellow businesspeople and celebrate alongside them is extremely exciting for us. It’s also testament to the hard work, groundbreaking research and superb products that our team are responsible for, and it makes us all so proud. We shan’t be coming down from Cloud 9 any time soon!”
