MIA Member Rocksteady recently worked with international rock group the Foo Fighters to deliver rock band sessions to children in music venues across England. See our story about ‘Rocksteady: Just PLAY’ here.
The band has now shared their video about the day, which is a great watch!
On Saturday 16 February over 1,000 children of all abilities took up the opportunity to be a rock star and play in a band with others in Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Manchester, Northampton, Nottingham, Portsmouth, Guildford, Kingston and Romford.
The Rocksteady Just Play: Foo Fighters event gave children aged between 5 and 16 the opportunity to learn to play one of the band’s greatest hits as part of a full band. Rocksteady created arrangements of Foo Fighters songs at varying levels of difficulty so the event was accessible to children already learning an instrument as well as those who had never played before.
Children that took part also had the chance to win drumsticks signed by Dave Grohl and other exclusive merchandise including limited edition t-shirts.
On the video Dave Grohl says about music: “It’s always going to be a puzzle, it’s always going to be a challenge. It’s a beautiful mystery. But once it gets its hooks into you, that’s when the obsession and the drive really kick in.”’
