COVID-19: MI suppliers announce support for UK dealers


The MIA are pleased to see that suppliers are supporting UK music retailers through these unprecedented circumstances. Here are the details of the commitments that some of our supplier members have made to dealers…

Barnes & Mullins are making it easier for retailers to receive Free Shipping on their orders.

From Friday 20th March, all UK Mainland customers will qualify for Free Shipping when placing trade value orders over £50.

Customers from Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Islands, Isle of Wight and Isle of Man will see the qualifying order value reduced to a trade value of £100.

This reduction is in contrast to the previous qualifying Free Shipping value of £300. Orders below £50 will continue to attract a shipping and handling fee of £5.00 for UK mainland or £10.00 for other locations.

“This is a simple way to make it easier for retailers to keep business moving during these unprecedented times.” says Brian Cleary, B&M’s joint managing director. “With a likely increase in online orders during the next few months, stores will be able to make more frequent, small replenishment orders or special customer orders without the financial penalty of additional shipping costs.”

FREE DROP SHIPPING from Barnes & Mullins

B&M are pleased to announce that from Tuesday 24th March, all orders with a trade value over £50 can be Drop-Shipped to the UK mainland – that’s direct to your customer – for FREE. The same offer is available for Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, Scottish Highlands and Islands with a trade value over £100.

Orders under the free drop-ship threshold will still be possible but will attract a now-reduced shipping fee of £5 and £10 respectively. It is also possible to drop-ship to European countries, and in these instances an appropriate fee will be applied regardless of value.

This new direct delivery offer applies to all Barnes & Mullins products and creates a coherent approach to the fast-changing face of retail. By mirroring the cost of shipping-to-store and shipping-to-consumer, retailers can more easily offer products to their customer base.

Hal Leonard Europe offers free shipping and drop shipment options to help retailers

Hal Leonard Europe distribution centres are still open and despite difficult circumstances, remains committed to supporting music retailers, and working together to bring the joy of music to people’s homes.

To help retailers continue to serve customers during this period, Hal Leonard Europe is now offering a lower free shipping minimum of only £150 trade order value to facilitate smaller, but more regular orders.

Hal Leonard Europe also offers a drop shipment service for customers requesting for orders to be shipped to their door. Orders placed give the option to change the shipping details to show the address of your customer. Standard shipping charges will apply to drop shipments within the United Kingdom, and international shipping charges will apply to drop shipments outside of this territory.

EMD announce new lowered subsidised carriage limit to help support UK dealers.

With immediate effect we will reduce the carriage paid limit from £350 to £100

During these incredibly difficult times we want to make it easier for dealers to keep replenished and make more regular orders.

We hope this will encourage dealers to look at promoting more products, use our web portal to access great content and look at inventive new ways to encourage their communities to look at the positive effects of playing a musical instrument.
