‘9-42 The Guitar Show Podcast’ brings guitar stars and brands to the pod-o-sphere

With a dearth of live shows and events to enjoy currently, 9-42 The Guitar Show podcast – produced by the team behind the UK’s biggest guitar event – is proving a big hit with guitar fans across the UK and beyond.

Presented by show organiser Jason Hunt and Ant Short (MIA President, ex-Shure sales director and Academy Of Sound head of purchasing), the duo brings a wealth of music industry experience to the podcast, which sees them interviewing some of the world’s finest guitar playing talent alongside manufacturers and designers. Guitar stars already featured on the show include Phil X (Bon Jovi), Glen Matlock (The Sex Pistols), Earl Slick (David Bowie), Ron ‘Bumblefoot’ Thal (Guns n’Roses) and Ryan Roxie (Alice Cooper, Slash’s Snakepit).

Released fortnightly (with listeners being treated to weekly releases during lockdown), The 9-42 podcast focusses firmly on the stories behind the players and their careers, as Jason Hunt explains..

“There are plenty of really good gear-related podcasts and vlogs, so we’ve always wanted 9-42 to give an insight into what makes our interviewees tick, what music inspired them to start playing, what keeps them excited about the instrument etc,” he says. “We’ve been blown away by the response both from the guests – who’ve been really generous with their time and stories – and from listeners, who really seem to love what we’re doing.

“We’re really looking forward to the next few months, with some great guests lined up, including some key players from the UK guitar industry. It’s great to be able to provide some of these really talented builders, designers a platform and shine a light (or at least point a mic) on some of the amazing work they’re doing.”
