The MIA are pleased to see that suppliers are continuing to support UK music retailers throughout this period of lockdown. Here are the details of the commitments that some of our supplier members have made to dealers…
Barnes & Mullins – Here for you in Lockdown 2
Although we are all facing undeniable pressure on our businesses due to the government’s new lockdown, Barnes & Mullins would like to assure you that we will still be here to ensure you can supply your customers with what they need.
Our shipping rates and free shipping thresholds are still at the lowest level they’ve ever been and drop-shipping products to your customers on your behalf is just as simple as it’s always been.
You are still able to call your Area Sales Manager to assistance and queries, and just like the summer, you’re able to call our sales office on 01691 652449 and go to www.bandm.co.uk to order online too.
Our warehouse and sales office will continue to operate effectively with all staff and working environments ‘Covid compliant’.
We expect shipments to arrive on schedule and we will be despatching as normal.
However, PLEASE TELL US if your store will not be accepting deliveries. With national shipping capacity at extremely high levels, this information is paramount.
As before, all of us at Barnes & Mullins wish you the very best for the coming weeks. Between us, let’s see if we can still make a musical Christmas work for everyone.

Hal Leonard Europe is supporting retail businesses this Christmas period.
As we’ve entered into another challenging period following the announcement by the Government of the four-week national lockdown, Hal Leonard Europe wants to reassure music retailers that they remain available to support their business and help them bring the joy of music to people’s homes.
With Christmas buying most likely to take place online this year, digital sales assets are being made available to help strengthen your online shop to create an excellent Christmas Gift Centre on your website. Contact your HLE sales representative today to ask how you can get access to these sales tools.
Also, whilst you’re working behind closed doors, don’t forget to make use of our drop shipment service for customers requesting orders to be shipped to their door. When you place an order on Dealer Access you have the option to change the shipping details to show the address of your customer. Please note that standard shipping charges will apply to drop shipments within the United Kingdom, and international shipping charges will apply to drop shipments outside of this territory.
All Hal Leonard Europe distribution centres continue to remain open for business as usual. Through Dealer Access you can place orders online in just a few clicks, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can also use the website to check prices, discounts and stock availability, as well as browsing new products and catalogues online.
For more information, contact the UK Sales team at firstname.lastname@example.org or 01284 705050.
A reminder from Strings & Things:
We’re open and fully staffed (some from home) during this lockdown period. We’ll be supplying the industry as normal for all those still able to trade.
To help dealers a little we’ve reduced our minimum purchase requirement for free carriage to £50 (UK mainland), £100 for Ireland, N Ireland, Highlands and Islands etc.
Stones Music – bike delivery option is up and running!

Rotosound continues Manufacturing and Distribution Operations through second lockdown
As England enters its second national lockdown, music string manufacturer and distributor for The Music Alliance, Rotosound, have released this statement to assure all of our retailers that they remain open and are continuing manufacturing and distribution operations as usual.
“Our covid-compliant factory is still making music strings and we are continuing to distribute parts, instruments, and accessories from The Music Alliance. With a record amount of stock in our Kent warehouse we’re ready to rapidly fulfil orders during the busiest time in the retail calendar.
“Rotosound’s unique position as the leading British string manufacturer has allowed us to keep our UK dealers stocked up with strings since the start of the pandemic, avoiding issues faced by overseas competitors and having received our largest-ever raw materials order last month, we’re fully prepared to meet the growing demand for strings that we’ve seen this year. Our factory, warehouse, and dispatch department remain socially distanced and sanitised allowing dealers to receive goods safely.
“We are still offering drop shipping and our sales representatives are taking your calls and answering emails to help you and your customers receive the very best service. If your company’s delivery address has temporarily changed please get in touch with us as soon as possible to be sure that your orders are delivered correctly.
“We wish for the safety and success of music businesses in Scotland and Northern Ireland who are able to remain open, and in Wales who are set to reopen on November 9th. Together we will pull through this second lockdown and be ready to reopen to the public again.”
