Mark Harrison retires from Strings and Things Limited

Mark Harrison has retired from Strings and Things Limited after 37 years as part of the office based sales team with the Shoreham by Sea based company.

Mark joined the Strings and Things team in 1984. He began his career with FCN in 1977 before joining Electro Harmonix in 1980. He left in 1982 and after a year working outside of the industry Mark joined Peavey in 1983, eventually moving to Strings and Things.

Throughout his time Mark covered every area of the UK and was known and loved by dealers for his fantastic sense of humour, one-liners and the unique way in which he answered the phone in the sales office. He was also known to dabble in the odd impersonation or two. Many of the customers Mark worked with over the years have gone on to become close friends. In many ways Mark was the personification of why people want to work in the music industry: he was funny and approachable yet thoroughly professional. He will be sorely missed by customers and colleagues alike.

Strings and Things recently restructured its sales areas and Mark was responsible for the East of England territory. In October 2020 Dave Pomeroy, formerly of John Hornby Skewes and Korg, joined the company as Mark’s road-based partner. Dave has a wealth of industry experience having begun his career in Denmark Street in 1992.

Mark’s replacement in the office is Rich Martin. Rich joined Strings and Things six years ago and was a key member of the warehouse team before joining the sales department. Like the rest of the sales team, Rich is a keen musician.

All other contacts within the sales team remain unchanged.
