MIA Member Andertons Music Co has announced its monster guitar raffle has raised over £117,000 of much-needed funds for charity Teenage Cancer Trust. The raffle featured 20 different guitars & pedals, which have featured on Andertons TV over the last few years. The guitars have all been donated by Andertons, including covering all global shipment costs, so that 100% of the proceeds from the raffles can go straight to Teenage Cancer Trust.
Andertons has supported Teenage Cancer Trust since 2017 with a number of fundraising initiatives, including the donation of musical instruments to Teenage Cancer Trust’s specialist units across the UK, but this latest drive is by far the biggest to date.
Teenage Cancer Trust, like many charities, has seen a reduction in fundraising since the start of the Covid-19 lockdown last year, yet still needs to carry on its valuable work, supporting young people facing cancer with specialist nursing care and support.
Paul McKenzie, Director of Fundraising at Teenage Cancer Trust, said:
“Young people with cancer have been hit harder than most by the pandemic. Many have gone months without seeing their friends and have worries that their treatment could be disrupted. Others fear catching coronavirus while their immune system is lowered and have had to face hospital visits and stays without loved ones due to infection control measures.
The money raised by the raffle will mean that we can continue to provide young people with expert nurses to support them through treatment, dedicated youth workers to help them cope with anxiety and isolation, and a virtual network of other young people to chat to.
All of this makes their difficult journey that little bit easier, which is why we’re so grateful to the whole team Anderton’s Music Co for their incredible support.”
Andertons Music Co, a family run business in Guildford, is one of the largest musical instrument retailers in the world with over 25,000 different products for sale from more than 400 different brands. The Andertons TV YouTube channel gets over 1 million views per week, with fans in almost every country across the globe.
Lee Anderton, Managing Partner, and regular presenter on Andertons TV, said
“Teenage Cancer Trust is an incredible charity, doing hugely important work. No teen should have to face cancer, and TCT is there to help teenagers & young adults deal with the experience. Music has such a powerful way of helping people get through difficult times, and TCT has a deep musical heritage. I’ve pledged our commitment to working with TCT going forward to ensure that every TCT centre in the UK has a top class musical facility for teens in need.”
