BRC Climate Action Week


Next week is BRC Climate Action Week and we are delighted to share with MIA members that our friends at the BRC will be hosting a week jam-packed with free sessions, expert advice, and guidance to support you on your journey towards Net Zero.

Each day these sessions will profile and provide practical advice and guidance on one of the 5 key Pathways of the BRC Climate Action Roadmap – an ambitious industry-led initiative designed to get the whole of the UK Retail industry and its supply chains to Net Zero by 2040.

Here’s an outline of what will be covered in digital events over the week:

Tuesday 26 October 

11.00-11.45. Reducing Carbon Emissions in the Retail Supply Chain, with IBM
  • Sustainable sourcing – what we’re trying to achieve and how
  • Top tips on scope 3 targets, KPIs and reporting
  • Technologies you might find helpful
  • New Sustainable Sourcing Guide – what is it and how you can use it within your own organisation
14.00-14.45. Solving for Sustainability through Data and Technology, with Google
  • Where to start in setting organisational Net Zero targets
  • Where and how to focus efforts in meeting these targets
  • How businesses can use data to drive Net Zero strategies and initiatives
  • Different tools and technologies that can help

 

Wednesday 27 October 

11.00-11.45. Low Carbon Logistics, with DP World
  • How the BRC is working with Government and other Trade Associations
  • Collaboration with supply chain partners
  • What retailers should consider in supply chain planning to reduce environmental impact
  • The role of smart technologies
14.00-14.45. Helping Customers Make More Sustainable Choices, with PwC
  • Who the different types of customers are when it comes to living a low-carbon lifestyle
  • Why customers would change their behaviours…or not
  • What the best practices are to help change customer behaviour
  • How organisations can build internal capacity to implement these best practices

Thursday 28 October 

11.00-11.45. Decarbonising Retail Estates, with The Crown Estate
  • The challenges and opportunities – from both the retailer and landlord perspective
  • A new Retailer/Landlord Protocol setting out a blueprint for greater collaboration between retailers and landlords
  • Emerging Government policy and its implications for landowners and tenants
