You may have previously heard us talking about the Young Professionals Network… Well, it’s now undergone a transformation and re-launched as our brand new Future Leaders Network.
Our mission is to give the next generation of leaders in the MI space the support, skills and confidence that they need to become successful.
Our Future Leaders Network is Chaired by Tom Bacon, (General Manager at D’addario UK) and Alice Monk (General Manager of the MIA).

What is the Future Leaders Network?
A schedule of meetings, events, training, and mentorship that appeal to people at all levels and across all areas of the sector.
Why does the Future Leaders Network exist?
We want to support and develop the future leaders of our industry. Ensuring that talent is retained, and helping businesses with their succession planning.
How are we going to support Future Leaders?
By giving people the skills and confidence that they need to become successful.
Events
The Diary of an MI Leader
These meetings will profile inspiring leaders in our space; we’ll find out about people, their pathways, and their working styles. We’ll also host a Q&A at the end of each session.
Focused and purposeful topic-based sessions
We’ll invite guest speakers to collaborate and discuss the topics that matter to us as a network. We’ll cover subjects such as building sustainable businesses, how to attract a more diverse workforce and customer base, and much, much more.
Training & Development
Members of The Future Leaders Network will have access to targeted, relevant, training opportunities. The MIA will provide and/or subsidise training that will give the next generation of music industry leaders the skills and confidence that they need.
Mentoring
We’re working on a mentoring scheme for the next generation of leaders. This scheme will expose future leaders to experienced people outside of their usual network. The framework for this scheme will be announced soon, but the idea is collaboration and knowledge sharing with a specially selected mentor who can help you to develop skills and support you with a career development plan.
The Next Opportunity
If you’d like to learn more about the Future Leaders Network, you are invited to attend a social get-together on Tuesday 17th May in London (Venue TBC).
On Wednesday 18th May (the next day), you’ll also have the opportunity to join the MIA Board meeting and contribute to a vital piece of work; creating a set of values for which we wish our industry to strive towards. The work will be focused around finding ways to proactively engage with and serve our broader music community.
