The Music Industries Association (the MIA) is the trade body of the musical instrument industry, and our purpose is to bring the industry together.
We represent the manufacturers, distributors and resellers that supply the gear, that brings music to life. Empowered by our members, we champion innovation and best practice across the entire industry.
We have been evolving at pace, and we are keen to incorporate fresh ideas and different perspectives. As such, we are looking to expand the MIA Board, and have vacancies for a number of Directors, on a voluntary basis.
The role of the MIA Board
The primary role of the Board is to support the Executive Team in delivering the strategic plan of the organisation.
You can meet the current MIA Board here
As an MIA Board Director there will be plenty to get your teeth into, not least liaising with members, developing new support initiatives and working with relevant bodies from outside of MI. It’s a proactive brief, and Directors are encouraged to drive projects and bring them to market.
Before you get carried away thinking it’s all full-on rock’n’roll, MIA Board Directors are required to contribute oversight and diligence. The Board also ensures the organisation operates in line with its Articles of Association and within its agreed budget.
How you can help?
We are currently looking for a number of additional board directors to join the team. At this time, we would particularly welcome applications from candidates with expertise, experience and a passion in music retail.
Being a Director will involve working with a number of allied organisations, and balancing a range of views and opinions. But it is a great opportunity to provide a clear and compelling call to action for the industry.
If you share that vision, and are able to offer your time on a voluntary basis, then perhaps this may be the gig for you. In which case, we’d love to hear from you.
Interested?
If you would like any further information, or if you’d like to have a chat about the role, please drop an email to our Board Chair Steve Greenall.
Alternatively, you can find the Application Form here, please feel free to fill this in, and we’ll get in touch.
Please note: Applications close at 5pm on Wednesday 30th November.
Thanks for your interest.
