Howarths of London announce the retirement of Andy Ferguson after forty-five years of service. Company Director Jeremy Walsworth shares his thoughts and best wishes…
Andy started working for Howarth in April 1978. He was a key member of the team who started the new oboe production in West Sussex. He has led the finishing team ever since then and has been responsible for training finishers in the production team. He has also played a major role in research and development of all models over the years. Many oboe specialist repairers around the world will have also benefited from Andy’s advice and training.
For many years I have travelled around the World with Andy promoting Howarth oboes and supporting our dealers. Most importantly in the USA where is skills are greatly admired. Players will have benefited from his skill as a repairer but uniquely, I believe he has developed a 6th sense at identifying and fixing the most mysterious of problems. He does have a huge knowledge and a very special talent.
Andy is a great travelling companion, good humoured and always with an amusing story to tell – sometimes twice if it’s a good one!
On behalf of all colleagues at Howarth, players, and retailers across the world. I sincerely thank him for his 45 years of service and his contribution to what Howarth is today. We will all miss him immensely.
I wish him all the very best in his retirement, good health and happiness in the future.
Before you go Andy. Just tell us that story about…….
