New MIA Membership Benefit: Rent & Rates Advice

We recognise that, especially for small businesses, managing both rent and rates is crucial for minimising costs. We’ve formed a new partnership with an expert to provide guidance to MIA members concerning rent reviews, lease renewals, and matters related to business rates.

In this increasingly challenging business environment, most of our members are looking for ways to minimise costs. MIA members have been reporting that rising business rates are creating new challenges for brick-and-mortar music shops in the UK, disproportionately affecting small businesses. Some companies are facing dilemmas when spending money to improve their property, as they find it is leading to a higher rates bill.

One member business had recently worked with Roger Wiggins from DMA Property on their new property’s rateable values. They had a great experience, and we felt compelled to reach out to Roger to see whether he’d like to help support the UK MI business. Luckily, he agreed.

David Menzies Associates (DMA Property) was established in the heart of London in 1975, specialising in the acquisition, disposal, and management of various types of commercial properties. Their focus is particularly on the retail market, encompassing all aspects of management, including rent reviews, lease renewals, and rate matters.

The MIA is delighted to collaborate with Roger J. Wiggins (MRICS) from DMA Property. Roger possesses extensive experience and has worked with retailers within the MI industry. Among his clientele are renowned names such as Franco Manca, The Real Greek, Popeyes, Le Bistrot Pierre, Burger King, as well as retailers like Toni & Guy, Space NK, Ole & Steen, and numerous other national chains.

Roger specialises in rent reviews, lease renewals, and business rates matters, and we’ll be introducing you to him in future drop-in sessions. Roger would be very pleased to respond to any email or indeed take any phone call without charge to MIA Members. Please do reach out for an initial consultation at
