Show Us Your Christmas

It has become something of a Christmas tradition for us to ask for photos of your festive displays, and MIA members have come up trumps once again. The featured image is courtesy of guitarguitar – a perfect way to start. Here are some of our other favourites…

Forsyths, Manchester

Forsyths has been doing Christmas for 166 years, and their window display brings sense of that long history, combined with musical instruments of myriad times and cultures, including the latest guitars and acoustic pianos. The second photo shows their historic piano showroom – you can’t miss the white grands out at this time of year.

Ackerman Music, Hove

Ackerman Music has gone for the glow of a Christmas tree flanked by key accessories. This leaves the view from outside the store clear enough for a hint that something for everyone awaits inside.

Presto Music, Leamington Spa

The Presto team has gone for a classy take on the theme, celebrating the season whilst keeping a strong focus on their product range. It’s nice to see one of my (Matt’s) favourite books (‘A Pianist’s A-Z’, by Alfred Brendel) displayed as a 2023 award winner.

guitarguitar has shared photos from across their stores. Any guitarist will see the ‘Fying V’ shape and instantly know what they’re getting! ┬áThe displays show what a huge range of guitars is on offer, this store very much living up to the company name, not forgetting the all-important amps for the electrics. There’s also a reminder of how crucial friendly staff are.

Paxman, London

London brass specialist, Paxman, has put the all-important protective carry-cases underneath the tree, and we love the alternative French Horn tree-topper. It’s such a crucial instrument in a huge swathe of orchestral music and, as the RNCM have recently pointed out, it needs more players.
