Role: Retail Assistant

Presto Music, a leading online and physical retailer of classical & jazz recordings, sheet music & books, instruments & accessories, is looking for a retail assistant with outstanding musical knowledge to join the sales team at our Leamington Spa store. While the position is intended as a general role covering all areas of the shop, for the right candidate there would also be the opportunity to take on responsibility for the maintenance and promotion of our orchestral strings department both in-store and online.
Responsibilities:
- You will be at the front line of Presto Music, representing all departments in the store
- Respond to customer questions and requests via telephone and in person
- Maintain very high standards in the areas of visual merchandising and store conditions
- Assist and enable department specialists to achieve their monthly sales targets
Skills & Requirements:
- Previous experience in a retail environment would be ideal
- Excellent consultative selling skills with an affable nature
- Key personal attributes: reliable, responsible, decisive and organised
- Ability to read music would be an advantage
- Knowledge of and familiarity with orchestral string instruments would be an advantage, but not essential
- A wide understanding of all musical genres, especially classical and jazz
- Confidence to use initiative and prioritise tasks whilst also being a strong communicator and team player
- Willingness to learn and to receive training in order to discuss and recommend products with a high level of knowledge
- Ability to liaise, collaborate & communicate with the wider team & business
- Interest in writing content for our website and/or contributing to the creation of video content would be welcomed
