Has 2023 been a year to remember for Sound Technology, or one you’ll be glad to see the back of?
Every year has its challenges and good times. For me it was my first trip to NAMM this year, and my first year working within Sound Tech so it has been a huge learning curve for me. I have met some of our customers and suppliers, helping cement partnerships that should ensure our long-term success as a business.
I am glad to see the back of component shortages and extreme logistics costs, it finally feels like things have returned to normal in the industry!
With the first question in mind, what has been the biggest challenge this year?
We are so proud of the way we represent our brands we try to offer service and support beyond the norm. We have had a host of new products launched in 2023 from JBL’s IRX One, SSL’s PureDrive, Teenage Engineering’s EP-133 KO II and Austrian Audio’s MiCreator, keeping up with demand and getting our stock-holding right has been a challenge for me.
What is one moment from 2023 that makes you smile when you think about it?
I am super proud of the team I work with, they welcomed me into the Sound Tech family and share their passion and enthusiasm for the brands and products we represent.
What’s the one thing you didn’t get around to in 2023 that is top of your to-do list for 2024?
99% of my colleagues are musical, I have a guitar and a keyboard at home -I should really learn to play!
What’s your favourite Christmas song?
I’m a little torn – Wham’s “Last Christmas” is a classic for me, but I could listen to U2’s –“Christmas Baby Please Come home” all year long!
What’s the one food that you can’t do without at this time of year?
Mmmmmm – Pigs in blankets
Tell us about something you do at Christmas that is unique to you?
I love to unwind with the family, not sure if we are unique in this, however we have 1 “movie day” over the Christmas break where each member of the family picks a Christmas film to watch.
