Following our AGM earlier this month, we are proud to present the newly elected MIA Board! Here’s the third and final part of the series: Introducing Robert Simpson…
Robert Simpson is a Director at guitarguitar. With a 20+ year career in retail, the vast majority of that in MI, Robert has a wealth of experience in retail operations and management having grown from a Sales position in his hometown of Dundee through to his current role as a renowned industry leader based in London. In the most recent phase of his career Robert has led significant projects such as opening guitarguitar’s HQ and Distribution Centre in 2022, transitioning guitarguitar to an Employee Ownership model and overhauling the structure and performance of the company’s Camden and Epsom stores.
Robert has been immersed in music from a young age and is now passionate about empowering and inspiring the next generation of musicians and guitar players. Outside of music he served on the board of football club “Glasgow Saints” who achieved charitable status during his tenure; the club exists to fight poverty and isolation in the East End of Glasgow.
Bobby, what will your main focus be in your role as an MIA board member?
I’m really pleased to be joining the MIA board, and looking forward to working with the organisation to implement strategies improving the industry and securing its long-term future. I am particularly interested in modernising and developing the MI sector in the UK as well as inspiring, empowering, innovating and creating opportunities for young people to build their futures musically.
