Guitars signed by Sir Cliff Richard OBE raised over £900 when auctioned on Tuesday September 3rd 2024 at Gardiner Houlgate in Bath, UK, one of the country’s premier auctioneers.

These unique acoustic instruments are amongst scores donated from the Vintage guitar brand owned and distributed in the UK by JHS, and mark over four thousand guitars given away by Guitar Aid based in Exeter, Devon in the UK, raising funds for the charity’s worldwide missionary work, enabling Christian musicians, worship groups, and church communities, many in underprivileged areas, to praise God with quality instruments.

“I can’t think of a better way to celebrate giving away 4,000 guitars than having Sir Cliff Richard signing these exquisite instruments,” said Guitar Aid founder and director Dave Sumner. “Our guitars are being used in well over 90 countries across the globe, I can say from my heart, that when I give someone a guitar in a poor country, I’m changing lives and empowering them to worship God.”

Sir Cliff, himself the patron of Guitar Aid, commented, “I was pleased to be able to support Guitar Aid once again in signing two guitars to be auctioned, whilst offering the lucky winners the chance to grab themselves a unique memento and support the wonderful Guitar Aid mission.”

To celebrate this wonderful achievement, both autographed guitars were sold with full provenance packs which included the recently launched book ‘Take The Next Step’ written by Dave Sumner, which gives in-depth details and accounts of his memoirs with fascinating stories, acknowledgements and quotes of gratitude from people around the world.

Each acoustic guitar was complete with a soft bag, a framed image of Sir Cliff Richard signing the guitars and a certificate of authenticity hand signed by JHS executive chairman Dennis Drumm, Sir Cliff Richard and Dave Sumner.

Dave continues. “I am delighted with the outcome of the auction as the money raised, will further the cause of Guitar Aid going forward. The publicity has also highlighted Sir Cliff’s support of the charity as well as showing the excellent relationship between JHS and Guitar Aid.”
