Are you ready for the new EU General Product Safety Regulation?

Are you ready for the new EU General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) 2023/988, which take effect on Friday, 13th December 2024.The GPSR requires that all consumer products sold in EU markets are safe and it establishes specific obligations for businesses throughout the supply chain, to ensure it.

To ensure that you can continue to fulfil orders to the EU seamlessly, you need to be aware of these the main points and take action:

Key Points

  • Ensure your products meet the safety standards as per the EU GPSR
  • Provide Details of your Responsible Economic Operator (REO). If you don’t have one, then IBC Music can act on your behalf.
  • Ensure your products are properly labelled.

What You Need to Do

If You Already Have an REO:
Ensure your labelling is correct. Otherwise, couriers and re-sellers may refuse your products.

If You Don’t Have an REO:
Every product entering the EU or UK market must have an identified REO based in the EU that is responsible for ensuring GPSR compliance. Non-compliance could lead to goods not shipping to your customer, recalls or other corrective actions, including fines from the EU.

An outline of the REO Responsibilities:

  • Verify product safety.
  • Maintain necessary documentation.
  • Work with Market Surveillance Authorities (MSAs).

IBC Music can act as your REO but you need to move quickly to ensure your goods don’t get stuck.
