It is with great sadness that we regretfully announce the passing of inspirational Tanglewood founding partner Dirk Kommer, who died March 15th at his London home.
Dirk was born in Bavaria in 1938, and after his school years, served a full apprenticeship with Hohner Trossingen, becoming well versed is all aspects of MI production.
This eventually led to his serving Hohner in company campaigns in South Africa and Belgium before arriving in London where he ultimately became the Managing Director of Hohner UK, representing the company domestically and abroad for many years.
Ambition later led him to form the European Music Company, which was based in South London for many years, and to the creation of the Tanglewood brand, a now global marque that he was most proud and passionate about.
Through his guidance, humility and business acumen, the Tanglewood brand continues to inspire and reward musicians in equal measure, and through our collective effort as the Tanglewood team, our best tribute to him will be for that success to continue.
Funeral details will be announced in due course and our thoughts are with his family at this sad time.
