We’ve been busy behind the scenes organising a series of practical, in-person training courses designed specifically for the talented people working across our MIA member companies.
Training dates are planned for March, May and September, with exact days and locations to be announced very soon. These three courses will be delivered by our trusted partners and experienced facilitators from the industry-leading Get The Edge Training – bringing real-world insight, energy and expertise to every session.
Here’s a sneak peek at what members can look forward to:
Sales Training & Skills Development
A full day of comprehensive sales training designed to sharpen skills, boost confidence, and elevate customer conversations. This fun, interactive course takes a deep dive into the customer journey – exploring how to build rapport, establish trust, and communicate openly and authentically.
Participants will learn the key principles of trust-based selling, gain practical techniques they can use immediately, and leave with a renewed sense of confidence in their approach. Ideal for new starters or as a refresher for more experienced sales professionals, this course is designed to enhance performance and raise service standards across the board.
This Sales Training course is an updated version of a programme we ran in 2024, which received excellent feedback from attendees.
One participant commented:
“I particularly enjoyed learning about different personality types and how these should be factored into your sales approach.”
They reported already seeing positive changes in their client interactions and feeling better prepared to adapt their style to the individual they were meeting.
Another attendee, working at distribution level, initially questioned whether the course would be relevant – but left very pleasantly surprised:
“Although the event focused more on ‘store level’ sales, there was a massive amount of valuable information that I can apply to my role. It was a seamless and hugely productive day.”
Consumer Law in Practice
A practical, confidence-boosting deep dive into the consumer laws that shape everyday customer interactions. This engaging course brings the Consumer Rights Act to life, covering refunds, repairs and replacements, distance selling, advertising rules, warranties, and data protection – all supported by real-world examples participants will instantly recognise.
Attendees will learn how to handle complaints professionally, refuse claims correctly, manage difficult situations, and ensure sales language remains compliant without sounding scripted. From custom builds and used goods to GDPR and product safety, this course demystifies the law, reduces risk, and gives teams the confidence to make the right call every time. Ideal for both new starters and experienced staff looking for a practical refresher.
Rising Starts: First Time Manager Course
A supportive and practical introduction to management for those taking their first steps from teammate to leader – often one of the most challenging career transitions. This engaging programme explores what it really means to be a manager, focusing on how to manage yourself, lead others with confidence, and balance the day-to-day demands of the business.
Designed for rising stars and future leaders who have demonstrated a positive attitude and a desire to progress, the course provides clarity around responsibilities, expectations, and the mindset shift required to succeed in management. The outcome is a stronger pipeline of talent, improved retention of your “A” players, and a group of managers equipped with a solid, real-world understanding of what great management looks like.
