The Accordion Shop
The Accordion Shop is a fifth-generation family business based in Sunningdale, Berkshire, specialising in the sale, servicing and repair of accordions and related free-reed instruments. Founded in Bristol in 1927 by professional accordionist and composer Handel Lovell, the business has remained within the Lovell family and is now run by father-and-son team Bev and Chris Lovell. It offers a substantial range of new and used piano accordions, from small beginner instruments through to 120-bass professional models, alongside Roland digital V-Accordions, MIDI-equipped instruments, melodeons and other folk instruments.
The business is an official dealer for major accordion makers including Paolo Soprani, Excelsior, Scandalli, Hohner, Weltmeister and Roland, while also offering part-exchange, MIDI and microphone installation, tuning, repair and restoration services. Its long history, highly specialist knowledge and emphasis on personal, no-pressure advice make it a particularly distinctive niche retailer within the UK musical instrument market.
