Paxman Musical Instruments Ltd. announces that John Rogers will retire from his position at the end of November 2025, concluding more than two decades of influential leadership, innovation, and dedication.
In conjunction, Paxman Musical Instruments Ltd. is pleased to announce that Ian Jackman and Stephen Flower will be joining the Board as Company Directors. Both have extensive experience, deep knowledge of the industry, and a strong commitment to supporting the company’s continuing growth. Their appointments reflect the company’s long-term strategic planning and ensure that Paxman’s leadership remains robust, forward‑thinking, and aligned with the values that have shaped the organisation for over a century. Ian and Steve will work closely with the existing management team to further develop operational capabilities, strengthen customer relationships, and guide the introduction of new products currently in development.
John joined Paxman in the early 2000s after first approaching Bob Paxman with a visionary proposal: to develop an intermediate-level horn manufactured in China to Paxman’s design and specification. With deep industry insight and strong professional relationships—particularly in China—John played a pivotal role in bringing this project to life. In 2007, the first production models arrived in the UK, marking the start of what has grown into a major product line and a substantial contributor to the company’s overall turnover.
Before joining Paxman, John had already built a distinguished career in the music industry. After training as an engineer and completing an apprenticeship, he joined Besson/B&H as a travelling sales representative and ultimately rose to the position of Director before the company ceased trading in 2003.
John’s contributions extended well beyond product development. In 2009, he became a shareholder and member of the Board of Directors, taking on responsibility for coordinating multiple departments and helping ensure that the company remained efficient, resilient, and prepared for future challenges.
During his tenure, Paxman successfully navigated significant operational changes, including the relocation of manufacturing from Kent to London and the move from its Union Street showroom to its current, larger premises on Long Lane. The company also weathered major global and economic challenges, including the pandemic and several periods of financial pressure.
John has been a longstanding presence at industry trade shows and will continue to remain active within the music sector. He shares the following personal reflection as he prepares for retirement: “It’s been a privilege to be involved with Paxman since the early 2000s. The period has seen many challenges to business and manufacturing in the UK, but the company continues to grow its status as a world brand selling to over 60 territories. Exciting new products are currently being developed and it’s time for me to step aside.
We have a strong management team in the company, and I am confident they will receive the same level of support from all at Paxman and our customers worldwide that I have been lucky enough to enjoy. I plan to continue with my other activities around the industry and look forward to meeting up with colleagues old and new at NAMM next year.”
Everyone at Paxman extends their sincere thanks to John for his exceptional service and lasting contributions. The company offers its warmest wishes for his continued success and a very happy retirement.
