Dave Mustaine’s legendary “Rust In Peace” tone is now available in a wider range of finishes, with Seymour Duncan expanding the Dave Mustaine Signature Thrash Factor Set to include a selection of new colour and cover options. Based on the pickup combination behind some of Megadeth’s most iconic recordings, the Thrash Factor Set delivers the aggressive attack, tight low-end and unmistakable voice that helped define an era of thrash metal.

In 1990, Megadeth released Rust In Peace—widely regarded as one of the most influential metal albums of all time. During the recording sessions, Dave relied heavily on a guitar fitted with a Seymour Duncan JB™ in the bridge position and a ’59 Model™ in the neck. However, according to Dave, that particular JB possessed a unique character and response that differed from a standard production model and became a crucial part of his signature sound.

Working closely with Dave Mustaine, Seymour Duncan analysed and recreated the tone and feel of that favourite bridge pickup, modifying the winding process to capture its distinctive voice. Compared to a standard JB™, the Thrash Factor bridge pickup features a tighter low end, slightly scooped mids and more aggressive highs, making it ideal for fast, articulate riffing and searing lead work. The set is completed by Dave’s preferred neck pickup, the SH-1n ’59 Model™, offering warm, articulate cleans and fluid solo tones. Both pickups carry Dave Mustaine’s signature and are hand-built in Santa Barbara, California.

Now available in a variety of new finishes including Black Nickel, Gold, Nickel, Matte Black, White and Zebra, players can match Mustaine’s legendary tone to the aesthetic of virtually any guitar without compromising the sound that made the Thrash Factor a modern metal favourite.
